Welcome messages delivered in the cross-strait tax seminar on the development of cross-strait tax treaty and anti-tax avoidance reform

The development of tax reforms across the strait and the negotiation and signing of the Mainland China-Taiwan Double Taxation Arrangement (Mainland-Taiwan DTA) have been attracting a lot of attention from businesses in both Taiwan and mainland China. In November 2014, with the support of PwC China and PwC Taiwan, China International Taxation Research Institute and Taiwan Chunghwa Institute of International Taxation hosted seminars in Suzhou, Shanghai and Guangzhou respectively addressing 'the global trend of anti-tax avoidance reform and the importance of the Mainland-Taiwan DTA'. At the seminar, Mr. Liao Tizhong, Director General of the International Taxation Department of China's State Administration of Taxation (SAT), and Ms. Song Xiuling, Director General of the 'Department of International Fiscal Affairs of Taiwan Ministry of Finance', were invited to share their views on the topic as well as the development progress of certain cross-strait anti-tax avoidance legislations.
