Berin Chan has extensive experience in handling different types of tax consulting and compliance engagements for international assignees, specializing in the Hong Kong and U.S. tax systems. He is concentrated in cross-border individual tax planning and compensation restructuring consultations, as well as performing expatriate tax compliance works for various prestigious financial service, multinational and Fortune 500 clients.
Berin has been heavily involved in a variety of consulting projects with clients from the investment management sector, which includes, inter alias, advising them on tax optimal strategies of equity schemes offered to their employees as well as managing the tax risks of their inbound and outbound employees. With his abundant knowledge of the industry norm, Berin is able to provide deliverables which are tailor-made to investment management clients and advise them on the best practice.
Berin is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Management Accountants, the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Hong Kong Taxation Institute. He obtained his Bachelor degree in Indiana University Bloomington, USA, with a double major in Accounting and Finance and a minor in Music. In addition, he has completed his Master of Business Administration degree in the Australian Graduate School of Management, which is consistently ranked as one of the Top 3 MBA programs in the Asia Pacific region. |
