This report is produced in collaboration with the Organising Committee of APEC CEO Summit 2009. We surveyed 350 Asia-Pacific C-suites online, and interviewed 24 industry leaders for their views on what policy makers and businesses within the APEC region can do to rebuild and revitalise the global economy.
Is the worst of the economic crisis over? What is the role of APEC economies in rebuilding the global economy? This report highlights three key areas in which APEC could make substantial contributions:
- Rebalancing the global economy to find the right balance between consumption and savings
- Promoting and fostering a climate of connectedness among policy makers to work collectively
- Staying focused on sustainability to help ensure future economic growth is underpinned by managing climate change
The report also indicates the importance of strengthening global trade and investment among economies; and the continued voice of members within APEC to engage in crucial discussions in international fora.
