China adopts new rules to further regulate e-Commerce

On 15 March 2021, the State Administration for Market Regulation promulgated the Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Online Transactions (the "Measures"). As implementing rules for the E-commerce Law, the Measures clarify the relevant provisions of the E-commerce Law, as well as adding some provisions to keep pace with the times in view of the new modes of online transactions. The Measures will take effect on 1 May 2021, with the original Measures to be repealed simultaneously.

In this article, we sum up the highlights in the Measures that are worthy of attention, and analyse the key points of compliance using our practical experience to provide useful references for market participants in China’s booming e-commerce industry.
