2023 PwC China Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report - Ready for the future

Welcome to our 2023 PwC China ESG Report – a collective story of how over 25,000 of our people came together on a sustainability journey. PwCers are adopting sustainable work practices, transforming our operations to achieve net zero emissions, actively engaging in community-driven initiatives, and helping our clients in their transformative journey toward long-lasting success.

In a world that is increasingly shaped by the interplay of climate change, technology disruption, demographic shifts and geopolitical fracturing, the journey to become more sustainable is anything but straightforward for any organisation. For a company of the size and broad scope of PwC China, it’s a big challenge. The path to achieving some of our sustainability goals will be long and complex, but we are not deterred.

This report is produced in accordance with the World Economic Forum (WEF) International Business Council (IBC) Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard. For the first time, we have aligned our climate reporting with the recommendations of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Framework, including details of our climate governance, strategy, risk management and metrics and targets. It also makes reference to the IFRS S1 and S2 standards issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), and the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

We hope you enjoy learning more about how we’re achieving our sustainability goals as you read the 2023 PwC China ESG Report. We also hope the story and success of our journey encourages you to join us in creating and securing a sustainable future for the next generation.
