Preface
Rising with China’s economy
PwC China has had the privilege of witnessing and participating in China’s reform, opening-up, and economic development. Through concrete actions, we have actively contributed to the nation’s economic construction—including helping the first wave of state-owned enterprises access international capital markets, assisting numerous clients with listings, restructurings, overseas M&A, and cross-border transactions. We have pioneered multiple firsts for Chinese enterprises on the global stage while tirelessly introducing international resources to the Chinese market.
Our History
| 1902 | Mr. Arthur Rylands Lowe was registered as Hong Kong’s first professional accountant. |
| 1903 | Lowe & Bingham (“L&B”) was established in Hong Kong. |
| 1906 | L&B entered the Chinese mainland market and established an office in Shanghai. |
| 1909 | L&B was renamed Lowe, Bingham & Matthews (“LB&M”). |
| 1962 | Sanford Yung & Co. was established in Hong Kong. |
| 1965 | Sanford Yung & Co. became a member of Coopers & Lybrand International (“C&L”). |
| 1974 | Lowe, Bingham & Matthews (“LB&M”) became a member of PW International (“PW”). |
| 1980-1992 | Both C&L and PW entered Chinese Mainland under the Open Door Policy. |
| 1998-2013 | The international merger between PW and C&L resulted in the formation of PwC China, which includes the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong. |
| 2025 | PwC unveiled a new brand to demonstrate that it is a catalyst for momentum. |
