Gender equality

Leader’s voice

At PwC, we are committed to driving a diverse and inclusive corporate culture. With the full support of the management team, we have made remarkable progress in the past few years. I am proud to share with you some of our achievements:

  1. We continue to pay attention in our annual assessment, to ensure all genders have equal opportunities for promotion.
  2. In 2018, we launched our very own “Maternity and Infant Healthcare Programme” in Mainland China to fight against “motherhood penalty”. We offer our working parents and their children a range of wellness support and services to ensure they are well taken care of throughout every stage of their personal and professional lives.
  3. We established employment platform to create job opportunities for people with severe disabilities, our emphasis is on re-enabling “ability” within “dis-ability”.
  4. We continue to support the HeForShe initiative, encouraging more male colleagues to make a pledge in promoting gender equality in their everyday lives.

As the leading professional firm in the market, I hope our commitment can inspire more corporations to join forces to co-create:

  • a workplace of equal opportunities
  • a marketplace that is diversified and inclusive, and
  • a society without bias and filled with empathy.

Driving diversity and inclusion remains a top strategic priority of the firm. In response to the UN Women’s call for gender equality, I signed the CEO statement of support for the Women’s Empowerment Principles.

I am committed to advancing equality between women and men within our firm, every day, in every way.

WEPs

PwC has been striving for breakthroughs in the construction of diversity, hoping to work with all sectors of society to achieve gender equality in the workplace, market and community. This year, we have signed the "Women's Empowerment principles" jointly launched by UN women and the UN Global Compact.

At PwC, we have always strived to challenge the status quo in the diversity space. In hope of expanding our reach beyond our workplace, and to make a difference in the marketplace and ultimately, in the society; we have signed the CEO Statement of Support for the Women’s Empowerment Principles, jointly curated & promulgated by the UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact.

Among the 7 principles, all of them have been included in our daily work on diversity except principle 5. We will be putting more focus on the 5th principle this year, to do so, we will be establishing a brand new gender-responsive procurement protocol, requiring our supplies to prove & uphold a considerable level of standard in diversity & inclusion within their organization.

  • A contribution on dimensions of the UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • A guidance to promote gender equality in workplace, marketplace and community
  • responsibility for women’s empowerment

HeForShe campaign

Through PwC’s partnership with the UN Women's HeForShe initiative, we are working towards achieving global gender equality in the workplace and beyond. HeForShe’s mission is to engage men as advocates of change for global gender equality. Will you stand for equality with us?

Take action and support global gender equality

Gender equality is a global issue that impacts all of us. When we work together and support each other’s success, we inspire new potential in the people and opportunities around us. Get involved and take action by supporting global gender equality issues that matter to you.

Maternity and Infant Healthcare Program

As one of our diversity projects to promote gender equality, we launched the "Maternity and Infant Healthcare Program" in 2018, in which Tel Doctor, Green Channel, Health Management Salon, Healthcare WeChat Group, Healthcare Publication and Report Interpretation have been introduced one after another. Via this programme, we have provided healthcare services and advice to staffs’ baby, working mom or working dad's family members from over 20 offices in mainland China. Responding to the Covid-19 outbreak during the 2020 Spring Festival, we launched tailored medical consultation and tracking services, and provided timely emergency medical support for our people.
