Mainland China and Hong Kong Consulting Leader, PwC China
James Chang is the leader of PwC China’s Consulting practice, with over 25 years of experience in management consulting, providing a full suite of consulting services from strategy through execution to a wide range of state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, government agencies, and multinational companies operating in China.
James is well equipped with knowledge on the business environment and capital operations in China, and combines his professional experiences in the world of financial services to promote the transformation and upgrading of Chinese enterprises. He has been assisting Chinese enterprises on executing high-level strategic planning, industry positioning, overseas strategies, M&A management, and other high impact projects to help them achieve the goal of creating world-class enterprises. At the same time, James also provides consulting services to numerous foreign-funded enterprises on the design of their overall China strategy, market entry strategy, supply chain management, risk and regulatory management, and other consulting services to help them conduct and develop their operations in China and achieve growth in performance.
James is a frequent speaker at various notable forums and summits including the World Economic Forum, BoAo Forum for Asia, the World Internet Conference, and the World Conference on Artificial Intelligence, where he shares his views on China’s economic development and transformation as well as current hot topics. In 2016, James represented PwC as the Knowledge Partner for the B20 Financing Growth Taskforce and presented growth policy recommendation report for the 2016 G20 Summit, including policy recommendations on green finance, FinTech, and financial inclusion, which were adopted and reflected in the official 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit Communiqué. In the following years, these have proven to become important trends in the development of China’s financial industry.
Prior to PwC, James worked at several Wall Street investment banks. He graduated from the New York University Stern School of Business with an MBA. James is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Certified Public Account (CPA) of New York State. He has also completed the LPSF (Leading Professional Service Firms) Executive Training Program from the Harvard Business School.
