Nova Chan is a Partner in the Advisory Division of PwC in China, focusing on valuation and advisory services in Mainland China. He served as a member of the International Valuation Standards Board (IVSB) from 2008 to 2012 and currently is a member of Asia Business Valuation Committee for the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Nova has over 20 years extensive experience in investment, valuation consulting and involved in a number of large-scale projects. He has provided advisory services for multinational enterprises, strategic investors and investment funds from America, Europe, Japan and Australia for their projects in China. He has been involved in all key phases of the investment process such as opportunity identification, deal structuring, feasibility study, financial and operational due diligence, business planning, asset and business valuation, drafting and reviewing contracts, registration and capital contribution, asset/personnel transfer, reorganization, M&A, and liquidation. He also has project experience in private placements, IPO listings and reverse takeovers in China. With experiences in a broad spectrum of industries and investment processes, Nova can provide hands-on negotiation support for his clients, as well as facilitate effective discussions with counterparties and government officials.

Nova has been actively involved in the development of China Appraisal Standards, including "General Standard" and "Ethical General Standard", "Business Valuation Guidance (Trial Version)", "Guiding Opinion for the Valuation of Non-performing Financial Assets (Trial Version)", "Application Guidance on Valuation for Financial Reporting Purposes (Trial Version)", "Asset Valuation Standards – Reporting", "Guiding Opinion for the Basis of Value (Trial Version)", "Guiding Opinion for the Valuation of Investment Properties (Trial Version)", and various other standards.

Nova is a member of the 3rd and an executive member of the 4th General Council of the China Appraisal Society and holds seats in various sub-committees including Valuation Standards Technical Committee, Practicing Member Responsibility Validation Committee, Business Valuation Committee, Accounting and Valuation Committee, Expert Review Committee for Significant (State-owned) Valuation Projects of Pudong and a member of the Asset Appraisal Law Drafting Advisory Panel under the Finance and Economics Committee of the 11th National People’s Congress. Nova has been invited repeatedly to give lectures on national and provincial valuation training sessions and continuing education programs for Chinese Certified Public Valuers (CPVs). He has also been invited to conduct speeches on mergers, financing, investment, and valuation in China and the Asian-Pacific region. Nova has also been deeply involved in many key research studies (on topics of business valuation, intangible valuation, and fair value measurements), and drafting of national text books and training materials.

Nova received a BBA (1st Class Honour) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is an associate member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), a fellow member (FCCA) of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and the first and only non-Mainland China resident who has gained a Chinese Certified Public Valuer (CPV) title.
